Another Sunday night at The Marquee. Another Goth gig. Very much a gig of extremes. The opening band 'Plain Crazy' were pretty good. The second band 'The Unloved' were dire, the main support act 'Sister Midnight' were also good, whilst the headliners 'The Children' were terrible. Price: Unknown

GIG 051: Borghesia – Camden Palace, 17th April 1990
Camden Palace was slowly becoming a favourite Tuesday night haunt. Not as much as it would a few years later for me, but it was a place that a bunch of my school friends and I would head to for drinks, dancing, and whatever live band was on that night. It was incredibly cheap to … Continue reading GIG 051: Borghesia – Camden Palace, 17th April 1990
GIG 050: And The Generals Ran Forever / Tragic Roundabout / Ship of Fools – The Marquee, 15th April 1990
This was my fifth gig of the month and came after a very late night party at a friends house and having spent most of the afternoon before the gig in a snooker club completely failing to pot more than two balls in sequence (those damn snooker tables are way bigger than pool tables! - … Continue reading GIG 050: And The Generals Ran Forever / Tragic Roundabout / Ship of Fools – The Marquee, 15th April 1990
GIG 049: All About Eve / Lilac Time – The Royal Albert Hall, 10th April 1990
Pretty much covered this one in the last gig update. This was the first time I'd seen the same band two nights in a row, or even twice on the same tour. There have certainly been a few bands that I've made a point in buying tickets to each of the gigs they were playing … Continue reading GIG 049: All About Eve / Lilac Time – The Royal Albert Hall, 10th April 1990
GIG 048: All About Eve / Lilac Time – Royal Albert Hall 9th April 1990
This was the first of a two night double header that All About Eve were playing at The Royal Albert Hall. It was also the first night (of two) that Will, Simon and I were going (Nick joined us for the second gig). All About Eve was a band that I was listening a lot to. … Continue reading GIG 048: All About Eve / Lilac Time – Royal Albert Hall 9th April 1990
GIG 047: Stage Dolls / Protocol – Marquee, 6th April 1990
After seeing Norways 'The Stage Dolls' supporting Fish the previous weekend at Hammersmith Odeon I decided to see them at their own headlining show at The Marquee. I can't actually remember much about this gig, although the Stage Dolls were apparently very good (I actually preferred them to Fish when I saw them previously too) and … Continue reading GIG 047: Stage Dolls / Protocol – Marquee, 6th April 1990
GIG 046: Fish / Stage Dolls – Hammersmith Odeon, 1st April 1990
I enjoyed Marillion (whom I would also see later in the year) and Fish (who had left Marillion in 1988 to go solo). One of my best mates, Simon, was also a fan so we both got tickets and headed down to Hammersmith to see him live, promoting his new "Vigil in a Wilderness of … Continue reading GIG 046: Fish / Stage Dolls – Hammersmith Odeon, 1st April 1990
GIG 045: Red Dogs / Feline Groove – Marquee, 28th March 1990
I can't actually remember what the Red Dogs were like at all, can't visual what they looked like, or what they sounded like. All I have is a brief note that let's me know they 'were ok' but nothing spectacular. They were supported by Feline Groove whose video I've included here as they went on … Continue reading GIG 045: Red Dogs / Feline Groove – Marquee, 28th March 1990
GIG 044: The Mission / Something Happens – Wembley Arena, 23rd March 1990
I was so, so hyped about this gig. I'd been a massive fan of The Mission since about 1986/87 and was finally getting to see them live. Carved in Sand (their fourth studio album) had just recently been released and they were touring in support of the album. They were pretty damn big at the … Continue reading GIG 044: The Mission / Something Happens – Wembley Arena, 23rd March 1990
GIG 043: Bad Girls / Chunk / Silver Hearts – Marquee, 21st March 1990
Bad Girls (Not the band that Robert Pattinson of Twilight fame was briefly in - they might not have even been born when I saw these guys!) were the first headline band that I saw that sucked big time. I'd seen some headliners that I wasn't overly fond of, or who weren't all that good … Continue reading GIG 043: Bad Girls / Chunk / Silver Hearts – Marquee, 21st March 1990
