GIG 048: All About Eve / Lilac Time – Royal Albert Hall 9th April 1990

This was the first of a two night double header that All About Eve were playing at The Royal Albert Hall. It was also the first night (of two) that Will, Simon and I were going (Nick joined us for the second gig).

All About Eve was a band that I was listening a lot to. They, along with bands such as Ghost Dance, The Mission, Sisters of Mercy and Fields of the Nephilim, were definitely my favourites at the time and – to a large extent – continued to be all the way up to today.

This was the first time I saw the Eves (the first of many) and they were great. Julianne Regans vocals were stunning as were the whole band (which was still the classic lineup which Tim Bricheno was to leave shortly afterwards to join The Sisters of Mercy).

This tour, supporting the previous years “Scarlet and Other Stories” got the full 10/10 from me.

The Lilac Time, however, were sadly mediocre.

All About Eve – December
