My 200th concert – my fifth time seeing The Mission – and my first time at Shepherds Bush Empire.
I’d seen plenty of bands since my first ever concert back on 29th December 1987 (GIG 001), and had plenty more ahead of me, but the thrill and excitement of seeing live music certainly hadn’t diminished… if anything it had just gotten stronger and even today (35 years after my fist gig) I still love getting out and watching bands – new and old.
It seems only fitting that one of my favourite bands grabbed the 200 slot. It was a Friday night and we’d arranged to head over to The Electric Ballroom in Camden after the concert to continue partying the night away, so arriving at Shepherds Bush Empire we were ready for fun.
And fun we were delivered.
Luxx, a support band I had never heard of, were really good and certainly fulfilled their job of “warming up” the audience for the main attraction. The Mission were great. They continued to be on top form, playing loads of the hits as well as a good sampling of album tracks, and provided us all a really great night out (again).
