New Model Army love their December gigs. Not sure why but pretty much every year they tour just before Christmas and even back in 1994 it was apparently no different. So we found ourselves, on a chilly Thursday December evening, in Kentish Town to see the Army at The Forum.
This was the fifth time I saw New Model Army, and the first for a year and a half, and I was as excited as ever. They had not disappointed me to date and this evenings outting was no different. They played a great set of tracks I knew and loved (their last album had been 1993’s ‘The Love of Hopeless Causes’ so there were new/recent tracks I’d not heard before).
The support on the night was Welsh band Dub War – who played a blend of metal, punk and reggae. They were pretty good but I know the lead singers later band, Skindred, a lot better. Saying that, Dub War are active again and will be releasing their first album of all-new material for 26 years this coming August (2022).
