I was actually quite lucky to see Fleetwood Mac as it fell right in the middle of my GCSE’s at school but my friend Stephen and I went anyway. The gig was my third at Wembley Arena (after this one I would discover the joy of much smaller venues – something that I still much prefer whenever possible) and was Fleetwood Mac’s “Tango in the Night Tour” which was another classic album and tour.
Not only was Tango in the Night one of their biggest albums spawning some great tracks, but the line-up was one of their best (that fragmented shortly after the tour) – Mick Fleetwood, John McVie, Christine McVie, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.
They played a brilliant set that housed not only a good chunk of ‘Tango in the Night’ but also their back catalogue such as The Chain (from Rumours) and Sara (from Tusk).
In support they had The Adventures, a band getting significant airplay at the time with their hit single “Broken Land” *(that was the most played song on Radio 1 in 1988) and album The Seas of Love.
