BOB’S GUIDE TO REGINA
Subsector Guide 2 — Spinward Marches, Year 1105

“Everything is available, everything is regulated, and everything costs more.”

Regina is where the Imperium begins for most of the frontier. It has thirty-two worlds, about forty-nine billion people, two Imperial fleets, and a ducal capital that runs on paper, patience and plebiscites. In 1105 it is also a few parsecs from the Zhodani border, and nobody here thinks the peace will last.

Robert “Bob” Veylan flew cargo in this subsector for the best part of thirty years before he was fool enough to go rimward to District 268. This is the guide he wrote while he still remembered the prices. It covers the ports worth knowing and the brokers worth paying, and it tells you which Red Zones the Navy really means.

The subsector is prosperous and orderly, but it is uneasy. Feri, its richest trailing world, has been in civil war since early 1105. On interdicted Algine, a Primarch is launching the Twentieth Crusade with land trains and dirigibles. Rethe’s thirty-two billion people live under martial law. Ruie, one parsec from the capital, is non-aligned and arming fast. And at Shionthy, a single grain of the Ragnarok Belt’s natural antimatter can open your hull.

WHAT’S INSIDE

  • Regina, the capital.A full chapter on the ducal seat:
    • Duke Norris Aledon and the House of Aledon
    • The Great Charter and Law Level 9
    • The native Amindii
    • The 193rd Fleet
    • Regina High (“the Spindle”), with a full deck plan
    • The University of Regina, Startown, crime, faith and adventure seeds
  • Thirty-one world chapters in the District 268 format. Each one has a quick reference, system data, an economy and culture sidebar, key locations, history, people and factions, adventure seeds, rumour and encounter tables, and referee’s notes.
  • Regional survey maps for every world. These are redrawn with realistic terrain, a hex grid, labelled cities and sites, and a terrain and travel key.
  • Bob’s Trade Guide. It covers every port in the subsector from a trader’s point of view, with trade codes checked against the 2022 Core Rulebook, plus three worked trade runs Bob would actually fly.
  • The Life Index. A biosphere survey of all thirty-two worlds, with foraging, encounter and quarantine rules for play.
  • Sophonts of Regina. An expanded alien briefing:
    • The Vargr, across eight pages, including origin theories, subspecies and the Wolf Run trade route with its own chart
    • The Zhodani, including the Tozjabr in Regina
    • The native Racconid, Zhurphani, Ursty and Amindii
    • The Aslan and the Llellewyloly
    • The vanished Ancients, Droyne and Daccamites
  • Subsector overview. The six regions, a world roster, factions and powers, key people, astrography, a timeline, and Bob’s one-line verdict on every world.
  • Referee-only material. Hidden agendas, corruption, and the threads that tie the subsector’s four fires together ahead of the Fifth Frontier War.

It is ready to drop into any Mongoose Traveller 2e campaign set in the Spinward Marches, and it is a natural follow-on from Bob’s Guide to District 268.

“Learn your trade here. When somebody offers you the big score past the border, remember there’s a reason the old hands stay on the Main.” — Bob Veylan
