Horrifying + Fantastic Creatures
Honor & Intrigue Bestiary by Basic Action Games
Here Be Monsters!
Horrifying + Fantastic Creatures is a monster book for the Honor + Intrigue Swashbuckling RPG system. Here you will find hundreds of monsters to challenge your heroes for fantasy and sci-fi roleplaying game campaigns. But not everything is just waiting to jump out and attack. PCs may also find invaluable allies, mounts, and companion beasts.
Genre-Bending + Blending
Some of the creatures here are derived from real-world zoology and mythology while others are inspired by classic science fiction and fantasy. There are also many that are completely new and some that have been previously published and revised here. But whether your campaign is set in a world of fantasy, pulp, horror, or among the stars, you will find creatures that fit your game.
Populate Your World
In addition to monsters, there is also a section focused on NPC statblocks for Pawns and Retainers for a variety of fantasy, historical, or science fiction focused campaigns. There is also a section of templates for various fantasy and scifi ancestries that you can use to customize any NPC statblock.
Biome Index
Each creature description includes a list of biomes that the creature inhabits. In addition to the standard index, there is also an index for each biome, so you can easily choose creatures that fit your campaign setting. There are several blank random encounter templates that you can cross-reference with the biome index to make your own easy-to-use random encounter table with page numbers.
Go Off the Map!
As a Gamemaster, you should use this book as inspiration. As you peruse these pages, you may find a creature that you want to build an encounter or even an entire adventure around. While you can certainly use the creature listings as ready-to-play statblocks, feel free to also make them your own. Make changes, or even re-skin entire statblocks. This is a book of ideas, not limitations. In addition to hundreds of ready-to-run creatures, we also give you the rules and tools you need to make your own monstrous creations.
