Voyage to the Forbidden Zone 1E / 5E

Dumngeons & Dragons 1st & 5th Edition Senaio by Dark Wizard Games

In a far and mysterious corner of the Celestial Sea lies the Forbidden Zone… a place where the “Majestic Mouth” drifts above the waves and extends fathoms beneath the ocean depths. Its entrance is rumored to be a living gateway into a secret dungeon, the waves and extends fathoms beneath the ocean depths. Its entrance is rumored to be a living gateway into a secret dungeon, where the wicked Dark Elf enchantress Sinestra and her evil minions are constructing a machine for universal domination. Now, a brave group of heroes (and a few idiots) have infiltrated the place via a Drow Submariner, disguised as ACME Engineers. It is time to put an end to the horrors, madness, and villainy that await deep within during their Voyage to the Forbidden Zone!

AUTHORS NOTE:

One of the greatest joys of publishing Dark Wizard Games™ has been the opportunity to collaborate with some of the legendary artists whose work inspired me to become a game designer in the first place. Having the chance to work once again with Erol Otus is something I never take for granted. His unmistakable style has influenced fantasy gaming for decades, and few artists can create imagery that is simultaneously beautiful, bizarre, mysterious, and completely unforgettable. Just as we did with Maximum Mayhem Dungeons™ #10: Fantastic Quest of the Whimsical One, I gave Erol complete creative freedom. Rather than sending pages of detailed art direction, I simply asked him to paint whatever vision came into his imagination, promising that I would write the adventure around the masterpiece he created. When I first saw the
final artwork he sent me titled “Majestic Mouth,” an enormous living creature rising from the sea and the strange submarine approaching its impossible mouth, my imagination immediately began racing.

The result is the adventure you now hold in your hands. I’ve also always loved the classic image of
the Drow Spider Queen commanding impossible spider-shaped vessels capable of traversing worlds and dimensions. Last year in 2025, I introduced one of my favorite original villains, the wicked Drow Enchantress Sinestra and her Machina Spidera. From the very beginning, I envisioned her as more than a one-time boss encounter. She was always meant to become one of Dark Wizard Games’ signature recurring villains, with an ongoing story spanning multiple adventures. This module continues that tale. Although a band of meddling heroes
destroyed Sinestra’s original Machina Spidera schematics, they underestimated the greatest
weapon she possesses—her brilliant mind. A self- proclaimed supra-genius, Sinestra simply recreated the plans from memory, improved them, and secretly relocated construction of the Machina Spidera to the hidden shipyards concealed within the living depths of the Majestic Mouth. It is here, inside one of the strangest dungeons I’ve ever written, that the heroes must race against time to stop the greatest creation the Dark Underweb has ever seen before it launches into the planes. Of course… every good villain deserves a dramatic escape. Without giving too much away, this adventure was always intended to serve as the middle chapter of a larger story. I
already have the concluding adventure planned, one that begins exactly where this module ends. If all goes according to Sinestra’s plan, the completed Machina Spidera will escape the Forbidden Zone with the heroes desperately pursuing her—or perhaps already aboard the vessel itself—as the adventure concludes with a very old-school… TO BE CONTINUED… That final adventure will leave the oceans of the world behind as the battle shifts aboard the Machina Spidera itself, carrying the heroes across the Astral Vectors and into realms stranger than anything they have encountered before. As always, thank you for supporting Dark Wizard Games™. I sincerely hope you enjoy exploring the bizarre halls of the Majestic Mouth as much as I enjoyed creating
them. Now gather your companions, commandeer a Drow submarine, and prepare to discover what awaits beyond the Majestic Mouth of the Beast from a Thousand Fathoms!
