The King’s Daughters

“The King’s Daughters” is set in 1665, after the King of France has launched an initiative to “strengthen” the colony of New France, known today as the Province of Québec in Canada. Each player takes on the role of one of the hundreds of young women sent to the New World to find a husband and establish a family, thus ensuring the generational survival of the French community there. These brave women embark on a harrowing trip across the Atlantic, with the goal of settling down in an unknown and dangerous area, with men they just met, living an unfamiliar and difficult rural life.
This would be more than enough to test anybody’s physical and mental fortitude, but it is made worse when an ancient evil rises from the surrounding Algonquin lands, preying on the hearts of the weak.
“The King’s Daughters” is a somewhat unusual scenario that unfolds over the span of a year, from the player characters’ trip across the Atlantic in the summer of 1665, their efforts to find a good husband, their first Canadian winter, and culminating in violence and horror in the spring of 1666.
