eebo’s Manual: The Cozy Beast remakes the standard 5E beast for grounded cozy fantasy. Its animals range from cats, dogs, goats, and working horses to bears, wolves, giant eagles, giant elk, and other creatures powerful enough to change how a road, farm, riverbank, or settlement works. They can live beside the creatures in Zeebo’s Rules or replace conventional beasts in a broadly compatible 5E game.
Beasts in this book are livestock, companions, workers, wildlife, pests, predators, scavengers, neighbors, and sometimes hazards. They pull carts, guard homes, keep stores free of mice, browse hedges, carry messages, scatter gardens, raid orchards, defend young, follow migrating herds, and make trouble when people ask an animal to live somewhere that no longer meets its needs. A beast can be dangerous without being malicious, and useful without being tame.
The rules use the Guide for the person running the game. Challenge Ratings work as they do in other 5E books, with no beast exceeding Challenge Rating 10. Creature statistics, traits, actions, and senses follow broadly compatible 5E conventions unless an entry says otherwise.
