Sickle & Torch – Rulebook 5.5e
Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition Supplement by Lore Play Press
Sickle & Torch is a rules expansion fully compatible with 5e & 5.5e focusing on 0-level commoners and their first steps on the path that will lead them to glory and becoming true 1st level heroes!
Your next backstory in 5e or 5.5e may be wilder than you could have ever imagined – with new background rules, ability score improvement options and variant mechanics for encounters that scale as your characters advance from commoners to low-level heroes!
Every new rule is presented in its own short and sweet chapter Any new or alternative Sickle & Torch mechanic that you like can be simply implemented if you are already familiar with 0-level play, or easily tried out if you are going zero for the first time.
Roll up your 0-level characters the old school way, randomly determine their background and occupation and off they go into wondrous and horrifying adventures, armed with not much more than a pitchfork and perhaps some turnips! But know one thing – they WILL get a chance to become better with the Potential mechanic which builds upon moments of epic bravery, incredible luck or inspired roleplay to increase your character’s ability scores.
Four new Torch classes – inspiring spirits that arise from unjust deaths, sacrifice and martyrdom, ready to guide your 0-levels towards their chosen heroic path! Torches bestow your commoners with select abilities of character classes, helping you to forge their paths and distill reasons for becoming a specific class – and also helping newcomers to the game preview and decide what classes would suit their characters. And if you want to keep it at zero, you can continue playing commoners throughout multiple adventures, while their Torches advance!
