Whilst I started keeping track of the music I listened to each month back in 2010 I started doing a yearly overview of my Top 100 in 2013, tracking the number of tracks I listened to across each band courtesy of LastFM’s Scrobbler that pulls all my listening data from various devices and sources.
Some bands appear on the list every year – probably 20% of the list features bands that always get enough plays every year to make the top 100 on repeat… with several making the Top 10 their regular home. But what still amazes me is that about 30-40% of each years music are bands that I discover that year – either relatively new bands or bands that I, for whatever reason, had never listened to in the past but just discovered or bands that I listen to rarely but got a bit more airtime over the last 12 months.
