There was a time in 1992 that Ugly Kid Joe ruled the summer. ‘Everything About You’, ‘Neighbor’ and ‘Cats in the Cradle’ blasted out loudly everywhere and our little group used to sing merrily along when we heard them. It took me until 1995 to finally see them in concert. My love of them had waned a little over the three years, but I was still keen on seeing them and headed down to the LA2 with Mike R for the evenning’s entertainment.
Unfortunately, being a work day, by the time we got to the venue we’d missed the support band. I’ve no idea who they even were. But we were in plenty of time for Ugly Kid Joe themselves. The gig was part of their ‘Menace To Sobriety’ tour which saw them play a host of smaller clubs before embarking on a stadium tour supporting Bon Jovi and Van Halen over the rest of the summer.
Needless to say they played all of their hits from their debut album, “America’s Least wanted”, as well as a host of tracks from their new, second, album.
Really good night and pleased I managed to catch them.
