Ever since 2010 I’ve kept track of the music I listen to each month. It’s fascinating to see how some bands stay with me over the years whilst others have their moment on my stereo before vanishing from my mind… well, until years later when I check out to see what I was listening to way back when in any case!
Anyway, I ran a Top 50 (which turned in to a Top 100) bands of the month chart on various social media platforms recording my listening habits for posterity and to share my earworms of the month. I listen to a lot of music when working, and also when relaxing. My tastes are fairly broad and I love discovering new bands, as well as new sounds and genres.
September saw ten new entries in my Top 100, with Kaleida leading the way at 31. The rest of the debutants were Eartheeater (38), Black Lilys (39), Skott (43), hoenix (47), Nome Naku (56), SONOIO (73), Taraneh (81), Razed in Black (98) and Chrissy Costanza (100).
There were also 16 re-entries this month, with Moments claiming the highest spot at 22.Some of the other arists joining them included YONAKA (37), After… (44), Somewhere off Jazz Street (48), Assemblage 23 (49), Lloyd Cole and The Commotions (64), Kiki Rockwell (71), Lucia & The Best Boys (83), and Enigma finally making a return after their first ever six months out returning at 88.
Several of Septembers bands have appeared courtesy of the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die book group I’m in, where one random album is selected from the book each day for us to listen to and review. Some have been great – either new finds or beloved classics – others less so. But it has meant that a few of those artists have started appearing in the monthly Top 100s.
Anyway, here’s my Top 100 for September 2026…
