GMLESS SCIENCE-FICTION ROLEPLAYING by Tesseract Engine
Get in. Get rich. Get enough of you out.
The Final War is over. The ‘Admirals’ have statues. The dead have several billion tonnes of shattered military hardware.
You have a battered cargo ship, four cheap pressure suits, and the coordinates of something expensive. There’s credits in those adrift ruins…
UNLUCKY FOR SCUM is a GMless science-fiction salvage RPG for one or more players, powered by Tesseract Engine’s CITADELL Engine. Share a crew of four expendable scavengers and board the wrecked warships of a spectacularly irresponsible age.
Strip a reactor. Dodge the security system. Negotiate with people whose salvage licence appears to have been printed during the firefight. Try to keep the alien insects outside your suit.
The clock is running. The wreck is coming apart. There is room on the Sled for one more Parcel.
There’s still time for one more terrible decision.
YOUR NEXT SHIFT INCLUDES:
- No GM required. Explicit procedures handle exploration, enemies, hazards and consequences. Play solo or share the crew.
- Scummers in sixty seconds. Quick character creation makes replacing the dead administratively convenient.
- Wrecks generated at the table. Discover abandoned Corvettes, Frigates, Destroyers, Cruisers, Assault Ships and Carriers, with random locations, defences, caches and complications.
- Salvage worth dying for. Six technology types, three Grades and 108 named finds—from filter stacks to captive stellar embers.
- Seven core Actions. Move, Work, Rest, Launch, Bargain, Combat or Withdraw. Every delay gives the wreck another opportunity to kill you.
- A Dustbucket to improve. Buy better weapons, reinforce the Hull and turn recovered technology into ship Upgrades.
- Persistent consequences. Carry your survivors, ship, stored salvage, Credits and Debt into the next Run. Recruit replacements as necessary. (Recruitments will be necessary.)
Expect dangerous work, sudden deaths, questionable bargains and, sometimes, profit. Perhaps.
Set after the Final War of 3HEX ISSUE 9 MAGNIFICENTLY IRRESPONSIBLE SPACE TYRANT (not required for play).
Choose (or roll on the included random name table) your dustbucket’s name, and go risk life-and-limb for potential riches in unsafe wrecks drifting in deep space.
Everyone’s gotta make living.
Or die trying to…
