RuneQuest / Glorantha Scenario by Jonstown Compendium / Chaosium
Dreams of the Blue Turtle
This is an adventure for RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha.
It can be accessed from anywhere in Glorantha.
The adventurers are called in a dream to help quell a disturbance in the worship of those who have an affinity with the Beast Rune, caused by restless gods.
They are given access to a magical road, a ‘dream current’, that will take them to the Tortugax Archipelago, where they can investigate the disturbance and find the ceremony to bring it to an end.
Intrepid adventurers from the East Isles can reach the archipelago by boat or ship.
The adventurers will meet the people of the Tortugax Archipelago, including some allies of the emybli from Dinal, as well as many spirits, demons, animals and creatures of both land and sea.
The adventure includes exploration of the middle world, the dream world, and the spirit world.
Details are given of how to construct and explore dream worlds, though there is enough challenge in the middle world should the dream world not be needed.
The adventure will suit adventurers fresh out of initiation with a temple, as well as more experienced, worldly-wise travelers: there are tips included for stepping up to cater for even more experienced adventurers.
Answer the call of the dream.
Help restore the balance in worship.
Free two gods from their restless slumber: Thella’s Net must be kept in place.
Tread boldly and explore the tropical world of the archipelago.
Great danger and reward are laid before you: embark on a journey that can lay to rest many demons, some of them from within.
Dreams of the Blue Turtle is an adventure of journey and exploration.
It is best played over a few sessions to allow it to breathe and explore the story.
The adventure asks those on the path to quelling the disturbance to look inwards, to identify their bestial nature and face their darker-selves.
Fortune favours the brave and the luck of the gods follows those who dare face the challenges of the unknown.
“We have sponsored three expeditions to the islands east of Pamaltela. None of them have returned. I remain fascinated by the stories from the archipelago: are their gods little more than spirits, receiving worship to make them seem powerful? Do they have gods untouched by the God Learners? Is it all linked to Pamalt somehow? I have many questions but there is little will among the Grey Sages to throw more resources into seeking answers. Wisdom, you see, like everything, has a price.”
