Doug started Bug Busters Ltd to deal with cockroaches, rats, and the occasional raccoon in the dumpster. Then came the Swarm Wars of ’86, a weeklong nightmare that hit his hometown when the bugs got ready for a takeover. Doug and his ragtag crew fought back from basements, rooftops, and the bowling alley parking lot. When the official reports blamed gas leaks and mass hysteria, Doug quietly built a network of protectors, one franchise at a time.
Under the hood, Bug Busters runs on a fast, rules-light system built for an OSR style of play and creative rulings. All rolls are player-facing, leaving the Dispatcher free to run the story and bring the chaos. Making a character takes minutes. Roll up an everyday past like a RadioShack salesperson, gym trainer, or bull rider, grab gear from HQ, pick a call sign, and build a real ’90s mixtape with a fight song to fire you up and a chill song to steady your nerves.
When things go sideways, you track trauma by physically stacking dice on your Doom Stack right on the table. If your tower topples, something terrible happens.
