Monsters of Gothic fiction roam the streets of London! Are the investigators who pursue them any less monstrous?
Gothic by Gaslight is a four-part campaign for Call of Cthulhu, 7th edition. This campaign celebrates the Gothic horror stories of the Gaslight era, imbuing classic themes and villains with a cosmic horror twist. Players encounter familiar monsters in new ways through an exciting and dangerous campaign in London and the larger United Kingdom.
Players portray investigators haunted by terrible secrets. The investigators are part of the Book Club, a London social club and publisher of penny dreadfuls. The club’s members delve into supernatural danger the Victorian public is not ready to face. The Book Club quickly realizes that the stories of Mr. Hyde, Dr. Frankenstein, Captain Nemo, and Count Dracula are not entirely fictional, and not yet concluded.The four scenarios in Gothic by Gaslight can be played using Classic or Pulp rules, by players of any level of experience. The scenarios, each of which is meant to last one or two sessions, can also be played as one-shots without connecting them into a campaign.
Investigator Creation and Pulp Options!
This book contains an investigator creation chapter that focuses on elements of Gothic fiction to enhance the playing experience, with options for both Classic investigators and Pulp heroes. The Cthulhu by Gaslight sourcebooks are not required, but may be helpful for additional setting details.
