Embodied Spirits of RuneQuest: The Goldcoat is the first in a series of supplements each of which will introduce a new type of creature for RuneQuest, and fully integrate them into the world of Glorantha. The Goldcoat is a fierce hybrid of Dragon and Jackal, with whom parties may interact as rivals or fellow adventurers. Despite their otherworldly appearance they likely share many of your party’s motivations, including a desire for glory and a love of swordfighting! In Glorantha these creatures are sacred to the Hsunchen peoples of Genertela, and respected in sword-cultures over most of the northern continent. However, in the heroic-morality world of Glorantha that won’t stop people from trying to steal their swords or capture their powers by turning their magical pelts into cloaks…

This supplement provides:

• A new Bestiary entry and all the lore and guidance you need for generating your own examples of the creature including juveniles, adults, and the ancient Sages.
• Rules for crafting magic items from the unique powers of the Embodied Spirit and derived from their magically empowered swords and golden pelts.
• Ready-to-play NPCs (including both Goldcoats and a human) with fully fleshed out backstories and unique challenges to gameplay.
• Scenario hooks, designed to tie into campaign settings around Glorantha and create motivated and complex interactions with the creatures.
• Special rules for Embodied Spirits, which provide guidance for incorporating the unique experience and challenges of dealing with them into your RuneQuest or BRP games.

Each of the creatures selected for Embodied Spirits are rooted in real world mythology, and the ways they have been added to Glorantha seek to respect the cultural meanings and symbolism of the original traditions, which are detailed within.

It is the aim of this series to give every Gamemaster all that they need to add challenges and experiences to their campaigns which will be new and different, even when players are seasoned Glorantha veterans.

This book is dedicated to Dario Corallo, with whom I started working on the illustrations before his unexpected passing. I am grateful to Felipe and Nagy (Vovin Arte) for stepping in and providing the wonderful illustrations that have brought this version of the Goldcoat to life.
