1982
As war with the US and China seemed inevitable, decision was made to built a vast underground city beneath Leningrad.
1991
The Soviet Union still stands and is at war with the United States and China for the last remaining resources of Earth. A cybernetized Leonid Brezhnev is still General Secretary, burying the nation even deeper in stagnation and repression.
1992
The detonation of new US bomb above Leningrad creates strange phenomenons below ground. The underground city project is abandoned and becomes the home of dissidents, criminals, foreign agents and disturbing anomalies: Dark Leningrad.
1995
Your characters are dissidents, trying to live in a city filled with KGB snitches, corrupt officials, gang wars, CIA agents and strange government experiments.
The game system
Dark Leningrad is a 2d6-based game, largely inspired by Marc Miller’s Traveller as well as the Cepheus rules. Characters have attributes and skills. Roll 2d6, add an attribute and a skill and hope to get an 8 or more to succeed.
The player-characters
Your protagonist are everyday people (construction workers, students, truck drivers, teachers…) who also happen to have a dissident activity (cartoonist, singer, book smuggler, Death Hockey player…).
Sandbox campaigns
There a lot of factions and strange places in Dark Leningrad and the simplest task (find a box of foreign vinyls) can lead to very strange adventures featuring the psychic cats of the Hermitage, dangerous anomalies or portals to… Hey, I’m not going to tell you everything just yet!
Solo tools
The sandbox nature of Dark Leningrad campaign make it pretty easy to use for solo campaigns. Oracles, random tables, it’s all here.
