Module R1: Weasel Family Picnic

Advanced Dungeons & Dragons / OSR Scenario by Mice of Legend

Twycross has fallen.

A weasel family and their rat war-band have overrun the village, driven off its defenders, and transformed the village green into a brutal feast. Some villagers hide in barns and cellars. Others are prisoners awaiting a far worse fate.

Across the river, the defenders of the Reliquary of St. Cuthwine can only watch. They lack the strength to retake the village themselves.

The task falls to the adventurers.

Cross the river. Break the occupation. Rescue the prisoners. Drive off the raiders before Twycross is lost forever.

An Adventure in Motion

Weasel Family Picnic is a stand-alone adventure for characters of levels 2–3 built around infiltration, disruption, rescue, and old-school problem solving.

The enemy is numerous but far from disciplined. Most of the raiders are drunk, feasting, looting, arguing, or wandering the village. The occupation survives through fear and momentum rather than organization.

Success depends on scouting, timing, deception, and exploiting opportunities as they appear. A frontal assault is possible—but rarely wise.

Multiple Paths to Victory

The adventure supports a wide variety of approaches. Characters may attempt stealth, sabotage, prisoner rescue, negotiation, assassination, direct assault, or some desperate combination of all of them.

Whether crossing by bridge, drifting downstream beneath cover of darkness, or approaching through the surrounding wilderness, every plan carries both opportunity and risk.
