Players’ Companion to Roleplaying in Glorantha

The Players’ Companion is designed to provide RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha players with tips, advice and useful new material to enrich the player experience.

For new/inexperienced players: tips and guidance for getting to grips with the game, including an introduction to the world of Glorantha, its lands, cultures, history and peoples and a helpful character generation walkthrough. Making the character generation process easier to navigate and ensuring you can create the character you really want. At each step the guide carefully explains what choices you need to think about and why they are important. 

For old hands: New playable options designed to greatly enhance and expand on the core rules. In the Companion you’ll find details of 8 new player homelands, 17 new occupations and 15 new cults; including several new rune and sorcery spells. There is also a wealth of new optional rules and playable material covering new enchanted items, animal training, alchemy, astrology, occult divinations, assassination, alternative character backgrounds and more.

For everyone:

• Key rules detailing character generation, combat, magic, character advancement etc are summarised in a concise bullet point format. Draws everything you, from all parts of the core rules, together in one place for quick and easy reference.
• Have you ever wondered what was it like to live in a bronze age society?  Drawing on our own bronze age history, we’ll explore what like was really like for bronze age farmers, nobleman, warriors, scribes, merchants, shamans etc.
• Want to learn more about Gloranthan history and culture? The Companion has a Gloranthan Lore section, expanding on what appears in the core rules, from the perspective of characters living in the Dragon Pass region.
• Overview of the lands of central Genertela, putting Dragon Pass in context.  Includes details of the Holy Country, Maniria, Peloria, Ralios and other neighboring lands.
• Overview of Glorantha’s other main intelligent creatures – the Elder Races – and their relations with the human cultures of Dragon Pass, the Holy Country and Prax.
• If my character worships Orlanth or the Seven Mothers – what exactly does that mean? What do they believe? To answer such questions, the Companion provides an expanded view of each pantheon’s core beliefs, cultural attitudes, ethical and theological outlook.

The Players’ Companion aims to make playing RuneQuest in Glorantha easier to get to grips with whilst providing a richer and more engaging player experience.
