Inheritors

Cortex Prime Setting by Rusty Sellsword Design

Your grandfather stopped an immortal warlord using nothing but a biplane and a stolen amulet. Your great-aunt discovered a lost civilization and barely made it out with her notes. The family albums read like pulp fiction. Now something old and dangerous has woken up, and the world is turning to you.

Inheritors by Jack Norris is a neo-pulp adventure setting about the descendants of classic pulp heroes, called back to finish what their legendary ancestors started. The Family Tree mechanic is the heart of the game: players literally build out their character’s lineage, mapping ancestors and the skills, signature items, and strange abilities that flow down through generations. Heirlooms are mechanically significant signature assets that carry history, and the group family GMC mechanic means the whole table’s legacies are intertwined.

Four attributes—Action, Heritage, Science, and Weird—capture the pulp genre’s blend of derring-do, ancestral weight, rational investigation, and the genuinely inexplicable. Multiple worksheets (Family Tree, Skills & Abilities, Heirloom, Group Family GMCs) make prep collaborative and tangible.

If your table loves Indiana JonesThe Mummy, or any corner of the classic pulp tradition, Inheritors serves up something rare: mechanics that make family history feel more like narrative fuel than backstory.
