GIG 340: Live – Brixton Academy, 1st July 1997

I’d gotten home from Glastonbury Festival (GIGS 337338339) on the Monday and by Wednesday was already craving my live music fix and found myself south of the river at Brixton Academy to see Live for the third time in 1997.

Live had also played Glastonbury so this was the second time in a few days seeing them live. I’d also seen them back in April at The Forum in Kentish Town (GIG 325) – and for a band that I was never really *into* I was certainly seeing them a lot in 1997… good job they were pretty good live I guess!

I headed down to this one with my housemate of the time, Jess and another friend of ours, comedian John Mawer. Unfortunately we didn’t make it in time to see the support band – and I’m not sure who was supporting at this gig – but we’d made it in an gotten drinks in plenty of time for the Live to take the stage.

Live were, once again, very good live. I am kind of surprised I saw them so much in 1997 given that whilst I enjoyed a couple of their albums I was never really into. Glad I did as they were a good live band (guess they needed to live up to their name…) but I’m not sure I ever saw them again after 1997.
