GIG 318 : Pitchshifter – Camden Palace, 25th February 1997

I’d not managed to make it to a gig for almost a month, due to moving, the Camarilla, and friends keeping me busy. But tonight I managed to make it back to Camden Palace for the legendary Feet First club night.

I’d been drinking with some friends down in Wardour Street earlier in the evening, but had arranged to meet some of my other friends at the club afterwards. With time of an essence I hoped on to the tube and headed up the Northern Line the four stops to Mornington Crescent to catch up and continue the nights entertainment.

Feet First always had a band on at midnight. Musically the band could be anything from wide range of the indie and rock spectrum – almost verging on pop at one end and thrash metal at the other.

This evening we were treated to Pitchshifter, an industrial metal band from Nottingham whom I’d seen a couple of times the previous year and really liked. In fact the first time I saw them (GIG 271) was also at Camden Palace and I’d thought they were one of the best bands I’d seen there.

Would they be able to repeat such heights this evening?

In short, yes. Pitchshifter were once again phenomenal live and highly enjoyable. Sadly I’m not sure I saw them again after this. They certainly carried on playing for years (they took a short break in the early 2000’s and then again between 2009 and 2018, but are back together again now). Pitchshifter were fantastic live and I’m certainly very pleased I got to see them atleast the three times I did.
