Welcome to #RPGaDAY2023! Now in its tenth year, #RPGaDAY was originally created by RPG author and games designer David Chapman (Conspiracy X, Doctor Who, etc) as a bit of fun and to get people talking about tabletop roleplaying games. August was chosen, I believe, to coincide with tabletop roleplaying’s gaming mecca that is Gen Con – which usually takes place in the States (Inidanapolis these days) every August.
#RPGaDAY is open to everyone so if you want to join in just check out the prompts below to inspire a blog, vlog, or social media post to celebrate everything great about our hobby with the tag #RPGaDAY2023

Day 8: Favourite Character
This is a hard one as I’ve had a lot of characters I’ve really enjoyed playing over the years. If I’m hard pressed into choosing a top two I think it’d be Alexander Merrick and Gallerie.
Alexander Merrick is a Tremere in Vampire: The Masquerade. I played him both tabletop and live action over the course of about 10 or so years. He started off as an Apprentice in the London Chantry and ended up working his way up to Regent of the London Chantry, then Lord of the South (in the UK) and then ultimately the Pontifex of the Commonwealth – overseeing the fromer Commonwealth countries such as Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and so forth. He was great fun to play – both as a tabletop character and through many years of live-action gaming – and I was always surprised that no one ended up taking him out given the things he got involved in and all the scheming and politics he indulged in. After I finished playing him he became an NPC in the Camarilla LARP and continued as a Pontifex over in Canada.
Gallerie was a mutant character I played in Marvel Super Heroes. She had the ability to manipulate light and also animate drawings and photographs. A billboard showing a dino advertising a breakfast cereal? – Well, that dino is now climbing down to the street to help tackle the bank robbers! Carry around a copy of Jane’s Guns Recognition Guide and have a ready made arsenal at your disposal in your backpack! I played her many years from the mid-late 80’s to the early 90’s and her backstory developed really well during that time. I still her character somewhere in a file.
