GIG 307 : Cries of Tammuz / Church of Babylon – The Underworld, 13th September 1996

I’ve been very neglectful in regards to my gig list postings. Life happened and I had very little time to continue my journey through the live music circuit and the bands I saw. I can’t believe that my last gig post was back in early February – over 4 1/2 months ago! Must do better and try and get back on track! So let’s start today, heading back in time to Septmber 1996 and to Camden’s Underworld.

Unfortunately I’ve misplaced my 1996 diary in the last few months so can’t recall who I went with, or much else, but I still have all the bands I saw that year on my gig list, so I have something to go on – even if memories might be a bit sparse!

Cries of Tammuz were the reason I attended this gig. I knew Paul (singer) fairly well at the time and the rest of the band in passing. I think this was the last time I saw them live, but I’m thankful I managed to see them 12 times between December 1993 (GIG 142) and September 1996 as I really enjoyed them, and they were a great bunch of guys.

The support band, Church of Babylon, was a band I’d never heard of – and I don’t think I ever heard of again. I can’t find any info about them so don’t know if they ever recorded anything or who was in the band. I know that I really liked them live, but beyond that… no idea.
