We all returned from the Monsters of Rock (GIG 227) earlier in the day, had a rest, and then a group of us met up again at the Roadhouse for some more heavy metal fun. After seeing a range of the current Metal Gods on show at Donnington Park we turned to see a past master of the scene : Paul Di’Anno, the original singer of Iron Maiden on their first two albums, “Iron Maiden” and “Killers”.
Having seen Iron Maiden live (GIG 006) fronted by Bruce Dickinson I was really keen on seeing Paul Di’Anno on the stage. He played a mix of his new material as well as a number of early Maiden classics.
Whilst I enjoyed the gig, especially hearing the early Maiden tunes, the overall performance was good but not a classic gig. Still very pleased I managed to see him live though.
