GIG 009: King Swamp / Glory – Marquee, 13th March 1989

King Swamp were a vastly underrated band. They had a bloody fantastic record (I had the cassette at the time, brought the vinyl in 2004 and managed to find the CD in 2010), one which we played to death in the Sixth Form Common Room. You can listen to their self-titled debut album on Spotify.

They should have been massive.

It was with great excitement that a whole bunch of us (Penny, Nick, Simon, and a bunch of others) descended upon the Marquee Club (which became one of my favourite venues and is now sadly the site of a chain pub – boo hiss) to catch them live.

They didn’t disappoint. Really great gig and a really good night out.

King Swamp – Is This Love?
Price: No idea as I don’t have the ticket for this gig.
