Old-School Esseentials Supplement by Calidar Publishing
This digital supplement includes a booklet along with three labeled poster maps of the Iron Queen gunship, and two unlabeled, plus maps needed for an away party’s adventure. The Iron Queen is a spacefaring dwarven ironclad on a mission into Calidar’s deep space. The booklet offers a detailed description of the steam-powered gunship and its crew, and a raid against an enemy outpost hidden on an asteroid. The overall flavor lies primarily in the classic high-fantasy D&D-style, with crossovers into steampunk and mainstream science-fiction genres.
The plot unfolding aboard the gunship guides your fearless heroes to discover a dark secret and face an epic finale pitting the gunship, the heroes, and dwarven space marines vs. a giant space nemesis and its fearsome minions. All this takes place against a backdrop featuring an insurrection on the dwarven world and a war of succession. Will the Iron Queen fight for the king of dwarves or for his rival? The adventure offers at least three possible outcomes to determine the ship’s final fate. Several adventure ideas are also provided as follow-up developments.
The adventure is suited for a party of 5th- to 6th-level characters, totaling roughly 30 experience levels. This material is designed for use with the Calidar Fantasy Setting but can be adapted for other game worlds with spacefaring ships. In the World of Calidar, space mirrors the real world—an expansive, airless void with celestial bodies exerting gravitational pull. Magic disrupts physical laws, enabling long-range space travel across the astral plane called the Netherworld.
The posters include both VTT-formatted maps and 300 dpi-resolution PNG files for printing, at 10800 x 7760 pixels (36″ x 26″). Spaces on these maps are 1” large (300 pixels), with 174 matching VTT tokens. Posters display detailed deck plans, top and side views, and the maps needed to run the *Raid on Teros* section. Most maps include DMs’ and (unlabeled) Players’ versions.
