“Becoming a father was the greatest moment of my life. Becoming a vampire was the second. So you see, Mr. Warner, if we don’t come to an agreement about Penelope’s final grade in your class, I will unleash the forces of the night upon you. I will curse you to an eternal torment, your soul dragged from the light of Heaven into the infernal pits of my grasp. And I will never, EVER bring your favorite honey-macadamia nut cookies to another PTA meeting again!”
In Monster Dads, the players take the roll of classic movie and horror monsters, bound together by a single common purpose: to raise a normal, human child.
Monster Dads is a simple tabletop roleplaying game for 3-5 players. It requires only two six-sided dice, pencils, paper, this rulebook, and your imagination. One player takes the roll of the GM (the Game Master, or if you prefer, the Grill Maestro) and the rest take on the role of Dads.
Each Dad is a classic monster of some sort – a vampire, a werewolf, a ghost, or something else entirely – whose inhuman powers may be better-suited for terrorizing villagers than the challege of fatherhood. But each Dad also has a Character Value, a life lesson they wish to impart on the Kiddo. The Dads will need to work together to make sure the Kiddo gets to school on time, makes good friends, has fun on the softball team, and grows into a wonderful adult. They may also need to work together to fend off rival werewolf packs, vampire hunters infiltrating the PTA, the Cult of the Old Gods that guides the local HOA, and, possibly worst of all, Tommy from math class. God, that kid is just the worst.
Monster Dads is available through DriveThruRPG in PDF.
