The year is 1625. The place is Nochet. In this ancient, bustling, intrigue-ridden city, your patron House strives for survival at a critical point in time. The House needs bold adventurers to aid them in this effort to forge new alliances, assist their villages, uncover dark secrets, and fend off opportunistic foes and rivals.

Nochet: Serpents & Shadows Book 1 presents the first half of a new RuneQuest: Roleplaying in Glorantha campaign set in Glorantha’s greatest city at the onset of the Hero Wars. This work provides extensive detail on the noble House Marele and its prominent clients who function as patrons and employers for the adventurers. It also details the House’s prominent neighbors, rivals, and foes plus independent figures from among the Old Guard, the city’s nouveau riche (such as the feared Wolf Pirates and rising merchants), assorted thieves, and the resident trolls.

Nochet: Serpents & Shadows Book 1 includes: 3 full episodic scenarios (Double Trouble, Hidden Business, and The Proper Message) set in and around Nochet; the Shadowed Portents – Sacred Time omens that may haunt the city through the year; over 30 Adventure Hooks to drive sandbox events; and more than 150 NPCs to engage the adventurers fully in an urban Gloranthan campaign.

Book 1 opens with the Sacred Time in Shadowed Portents, after which the year begins pleasantly – a noble family of North Esrolia arrives to marry their eligible son into House Marele. The adventurers need only escort the family through the city streets to their patron’s hall. Double Trouble speaks of this tale. In Hidden Business the adventurers visit one of House Marele’s farms to investigate recent disturbances. Their success may uncover hidden secrets and opportunities, enhancing their reputation. With The Proper Message the adventurers attempt to stave off a major threat to House Marele.
