Sorcerers think they know all about magic. But the truth is there are forces of magic that a Sorcerer barely understands, and their magic only scratches the surface of what is possible. Elemental magic is one of those areas. Practitioners of elemental magic, called Mages, follow the Five-Fold Path. They can attune to an element and thereby gain a deeper understanding, and greater control, of the forces that control all things. Mages can perform feats of magic impossible for the Sorcerer. While the most powerful sorcery spells are often stronger than the strongest elemental spell, skilled and careful Mages do not have to worry about corruption and can manipulate their spells at will, giving them greater flexibility.
Sorcery has strict rules and spells that must be performed precisely in complex ceremonies, but elemental magic is free-flowing and without spells, instead Mages can Manipulate their chosen element. While following the Five-Fold Path, no two Mages work an element in the same way, each is creative and works in a way that is best for them.
In this book we present a complimentary system of magic that can be used alongside the standard Sorcery provided in The Sword of Cepheus 2nd Edition, or as a replacement magic system, as desired by the Referee. It also presents dozens of new manipulations (spells) and dozens of new elemental creatures.
