Ever since 2010 I’ve kept track of the music I listen to each month. It’s fascinating to see how some bands stay with me over the years whilst others have their moment on my stereo before vanishing from my mind… well, until years later when I check out to see what I was listening to way back when in any case!

Anyway, I ran a Top 50 (which turned in to a Top 100) bands of the month chart on various social media platforms recording my listening habits for posterity and to share my earworms of the month. I listen to a lot of music when working, and also when relaxing. My tastes are fairly broad and I love discovering new bands, as well as new sounds and genres.

November saw 11 new entries hit my Top 100 for the first time. Leading that pack, straight in at #8, is Scott Walker. Other new entries were ZZ Top (#28), Now, Now (#52), Sierra Veins (#56), Bob Dylan (#65), The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble (#69), Sonic Youth (#74), Fred Neil (#77), Creedence Clearwater Revival (#82), Stevie Wonder (#95) and Atrium Carceri (#97).

There were also 18 re-entries this month, with the highest being Mothica at #6. Some of the other re-enteries included Holly Humberstone (#11), Project Pitchfork (#20), Pixies (#22), Saint of Sin (#37, Pat Benetar (#40), Mazzy Star (#47), Smashing Pumpkins (#70), ALT BLK ERA (#84), and Ladytron (#93).

Several of Novembers bands have appeared courtesy of the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die book group I’m now in, where one random album is selected from the book each day for us to listen to and review. Some have been great – either new finds or beloved classics – others less so. But it has meant that a few of those artists have started appearing in the monthly Top 100s.
