Modern Era Rules for Shadowdark by The Scrying Dutchman

Blacklight is an expansion for Kelsey Dione’s acclaimed Shadowdark tabletop RPG, introducing new rules and mechanics to propel your games into a modern era. Step into the shadows as part of a covert organization of skilled professionals, the last line of defense against relentless extradimensional forces of darkness.

Blacklight includes the following:

• Setting: Setting information focused on the Blacklight Institute, a secretive organization led by a cabal of scientists, occultists, and other brilliant minds, united in their mission to stop the spread of invasive extradimensional forces.
• System: Rules to bring Shadowdark to a modern era, including mechanics for gunfire and explosions attracting unwanted attention, expanded weapon ranges to accommodate modern firearms, and a variant of the torch mechanic that simulates the draining of batteries, such as when using flashlights and night vision technology.
• Classes: 11 new classes that work together as the Institute’s investigation, exploration and combat teams: The Assault agent, the Basher, the Support agent, the Recon agent, the Specialist, the Investigator, the Esper, the Cleaner, the Fixer, the Exorcist and the Occultist.  
• Psionics: A diverse array of psionic powers for the Esper class to master and wield.
• Training: Downtime training rules to further customize and enhance characters with various useful skills.
• Weapons: An arsenal of modern-day weaponry, ranging from combat knives to assault rifles, sniper rifles, machine guns, rocket launchers, and even experimental energy weapons. This also includes a variety of ammunition types and attachments to customize your weapons to fit the mission at hand.
• Equipment: A wide range of modern-day equipment, including night vision goggles, kevlar vests, drones, advanced scanners, and other specialized gear designed to support Blacklight’s mission teams in the field.
• Vehicles: A selection of vehicles, ranging from ATVs to armored trucks, enabling mission teams to traverse and operate in a variety of hostile environments.
• NPCs: A bestiary of monstrous and hostile entities, providing mission teams with a variety of formidable foes to face alongside those from other Shadowdark compatible works.
• Adventure: A brief introductory mission for a rookie Blacklight team, tasking them with confronting a dangerous group of shadow-worshiping cultists.
