“Plan 9 from Outer Space the Game” is a self-standing role-playing game inspired by the iconic sci-fi/horror film of the same name! It comes with everything needed to play it, including the TSRPG Basic Rules; additional rules for the 1950s Atomic Age science fiction B-movie genre (including B-Roll and Catchphrases); a 12-scene adventure based on director Edward D. Wood Jr.’s timeless Plan 9 from Outer Space film; six pre-generated characters; and guidelines for character advancement and continuing the adventure indefinitely.
In this scenario, pilot Jeff Trent, Olympic athlete Paula Trent (Jeff’s wife), Lt. John Harper, Col. Tom Edwards, Dr. Gloria Butcher, and Patrolman Paul Kelton must contend with everything from flying saucers to crazed bobcats while investigating mysteries in a gloomy cemetery, and crossing paths with Army Brass, a slick psychic, and androgynous aliens.
The success or failure of their investigation will determine the fate of the locus of western civilization — Hollywood!
“Plan 9 from Outer Space the Game” is powered by the Mithral-bestselling TSRPG-System engine, which uses a set of easy and flexible Challenge-based rules for collaborative storytelling. One or more Players assume the roles of Characters, while a Storyteller narrates the adventure through a series of scenes. The Storyteller describes the setting and environment, assumes the roles of other people and creatures, and determines the outcomes of Character actions.
