Early Spring 1930, Arkham, MA. The quiet halls of Miskatonic University stir with unease as faculty and students alike fall prey to strange dreams, erratic behavior, and a creeping sense that the campus itself is… growing.
When a group of students are assigned to clean the abandoned laboratory of the recently retired Professor Wilma Wethering, they uncover more than dust and drudgery. Their dreams turn vivid, the air grows heavy with pollen, and the line between waking and sleeping begins to blur.
They must navigate the tangled roots of academia—where ambition, obsession, and the Dreamlands entwine. From ivy-clad laboratories to secret greenhouses and lucid dreamscapes, Where Dreams Take Root draws players into a world where knowledge blossoms into madness. Investigators will explore the porous boundary between waking reality and the Dreamlands.
This scenario can be run as a standalone mystery, the opening chapter of a Dreamlands-themed campaign, or a side story for investigators tied to Arkham’s academic world. Best suited for at least two sessions (8-10 hours total).
