In superhero stories, your heroes most often face costumed foes and criminal masterminds. But in Nocturne, a place of darkness, whispered curses, and streets steeped in blood, the people who matter most aren’t always the ones throwing punches or casting hexes. They’re the barkeep who’s seen too much, the priest who knows which crypt doors should stay sealed, the gang matriarch who owns half the docks, or the childhood friend who suddenly shows up on the wrong side of the law.
Nocturnals is a collection of 40 not-quite-normal souls. It’s not a rogue’s gallery but a compendium of the friends, family, rivals, and wild cards who fill out your hero’s world. Most are not openly hostile, though some can be dangerous in their own quiet ways. They’re the people who can’t be handled with a knockout blow or an optic blast. Instead, they can change the course of a hero’s life with a word, a secret, or a desperate plea.
Nocturnals also introduces the Night Shift—a team of seven brand-new mystic heroes. The dark, rain-slicked streets of Nocturne are home to more than mundane threats. The supernatural is never far from this haunted city, and the people need someone to protect them from ghosts, vampires, demons, and necromancers. The Night Shift are those heroes, defending the people of Nocturne from the things that go bump in the night.
And Nocturnals also has a full adventure, in which the heroes have to rescue the victims of a human trafficking ring from a ruthless crime lord and his sorcerous allies.
