A Pirate Grimdark-Salted, Eldritch-Infested expansion for 5e! Sail, Steal, Survive!

VoidSea is a Grimdark-Salted, Eldritch-Infested, High-Seas-Soaked expansion for 5e (both 2024 and 2014). Build the Lovecraftian naval campaign of your slimiest nightmares! Discover reinvented naval combat & keel-crushing kaiju, build characters with abyssal races and subclasses, harvest unique boss monsters, and craft bespoke magic items. Comes with the full gamut of miniatures, STLs, and VTT options!

This campaign presents two books: VoidSea, a tome that reinvents naval combat and is packed with player options, and Salt, Storm & Steel, an adventure book with 8 adventures, each playable at three different levels. The 18” Mimic Ship gives your players a modular home base which can be customised by looting or crafting the components found in any of the four Adventure Bundles. Each adventure bundle comprises two adventures—one against pirate crews and one hunting deadly kaiju!

Naval Combat Reinvented
Conjure stratospheric levels of exhilaration and terror as your players pursue, cripple, and plunder enemy vessels, blast sea fortresses to smithereens, and flee the tentacled maws of abyssal kaiju. Study your enemies, devise your tactics, and watch it all sink into the deep as chaos unfolds!

VoidSea reinvents naval combat for D&D 5e in a number of ways: a dual-theatre system, a plethora of modular and customisable ship components, a dual-phase initiative, and a system for tracking a character’s maritime prowess—the naval perk system. Read on to see how!
Abyssally Deep Tactics
Unlock deep levels of tactical positioning, and cry as your players casually outsmart the strategy you spent all week planning.
Dual Theatre System. VoidSea uses two theatres of combat simultaneously. The Naval Theatre uses a 30-foot grid to track positions of ships relative to each other and ocean hazards, while the Boarding Theatre is the regular 5-foot grid you’re accustomed to, used for tracking the positions of creatures ON the ship’s deck or the Kaiju’s body.

Ship-to-Ship Combat
Are you looking to impair the enemy ship and steal its treasure? Or send it to Davy Jones’ locker? Ship-to-ship combat occurs in the Naval Theatre and is a tactical match of careful positioning. If you can maneuver your vessel perpendicular to your foe’s, you can send cannonballs splintering from bow to stern in a devastating attack known as a rake.

Boarder’s Away!
Why sink a ship when you could loot it!? Fire a harpoon, reel an enemy vessel in, and get up close and personal in the Boarding Theatre! Let your Path of the Maelstrom Barbarian revel in their bloodlust and exsanguinate the enemy crew, then take their treasure, cannons, and deafening sail made of a banshee’s scream as your own.

Modular Components. Cannons, sails, steering wheels—all of these are known as ‘ship components’ and can be swapped out between fights! Moreover, every enemy ship comes with unique, magical components you can loot, and every enemy kaiju has components you can craft from their corpses (Harvesting and Crafting rules from Heliana’s Guide included!).

Keel-crushing, hull-rending, mast-snapping madness! Four of the eight adventures in Salt, Storm, & Steel pit your crew against kaiju—colossi of the sea—using the tested and beloved kaiju-fighting rules from Ryoko’s Guide (rules included in VoidSea)! Exploit unique vulnerabilities, adapt to chaotic, changing behaviours, and utilise ingenious, Sekiro-inspired prostheses to overcome unbelievable odds.

Minis and Tokens. Each kaiju comes with a physical mini for the Naval Theatre and an 18–30-inch token for when your players scale them to find their weak spots, Shadow of the Colossus style, in the Boarding Theatre.
Naval Perk System
Give your players the gift of levelling up twice as often without any power creep! The Naval Perk system lets your players specialise in one of four roles: Artillerist, Bosun, Captain, and Helmsman. Specialising in these tech-trees is essential for getting the most out of your mighty vessel!

Dual Phase Initiative. Rounds of combat now have two phases: the Ship Phase and Creature Phase. During the Ship Phase, players take Ship Actions to shoot cannons (Artillerist), repair components (Bosun), augment allies (Captain), and navigate hazards (Helmsman). Creatures that don’t act during the Ship Phase can act during the Creature Phase, just like in normal D&D!
Player Options
Become masters of salt, storm, and steel with the plethora of feats, subclasses, and species in VoidSea.
Salt-Soaked Subclasses
Summon spirits made of sea fog to confuse and obscure as the Warlock of the Bakekujira Patron. Ebb and flow, striking with the thunderous alacrity of a mantis shrimp, or escaping danger in a cloud of cuttlefish ink as the Warrior of the Tide monk. Lure helmsman to a stoney-toothed demise as you charm challengers and enchant enemies as the Siren Soul sorcerer. More subclasses abound in VoidSea, and even more are ready to be unlocked as stretch goals!

Seafaring Species
Assume an aquatic ancestry, embracing a Sharkin’s bloodlust, or becoming a living biosphere for the Voidsea’s mutated fauna and flora as a Coralborn. Decorate your tusks as the walrus-like Portan, become a portable shield as the crustacean Carapacean, or slice enemies’ achilles as a feather-bellied Pingvi! More species, lineages, and bespoke feats await in VoidSea!

Dynamic Mutation System
There’s something wrong with the VoidSea… those that spend too long in it come out… different! Introduce some risk and reward as you players accumulate mutagen points and mutate their characters in sometimes-beneficial and mostly-unnerving ways! Sure, there’s treasure down there, but what might be the cost?

Adventures Bundles Await
Create unforgettable memories as you pit your party against privateering pirates and keel-crushing kaiju. Each of the eight adventures in Salt, Storm & Steel comes as a boxed set (and/or a VTT package) to bring your tabletop to life!
