A Two Player Romantic Journaling RPG by Arvel’s Archives
Part of DriveThruRPG’s fourth-annual game jam! PocketQuest 2025 Theme is Dreams & Nightmares! PocketQuest 2025 submissions are at most 25 pages (including covers) and act as standalone games.
The Dream Date is a GM-less two-person romantic comedy journaling TTRPG that dives into the first few weeks of a new romance. Will this be the start of a long-term relationship, a short summer fling or will it be the beginning of a love that is doomed to fail?
You will play as a new couple, after defining your character and how you’ve met. You’ll meet over three consecutive dates, as you’ll share moments of happiness and face complications, eventually deciding together if you’ll meet for another date or call it quits. Will this be your dream date or the stuff of nightmares?
If you like games like The Quiet Year, Fog of War or Fiasco, you’ll hopefully like this game as well. You can use this game as a simple role-playing game with a friend or significant other, as a dating journaling experience or as some sort of Rom-Com generator. One session is usually around 30-45 minutes long. I hope you’ll have much fun with this game.
This game contains the original game in English, a translation to German, as well as printer-friendly versions for both language options.
The Dream Date is available through DriveThruRPG in PDF.
