A Call of Cthulhu scenario of retail and ecological horror by Christopher Dimitrios / Miskatonic Repository / Chaosium
Ancient knowledge blooms in the pit of old forests. Beneath the towering canopies, where twisted roots burrow into the black loam, a deeper hunger reigns. The venerable oak drinks from primordial veins, its wisdom carved not in words but in silence and decay. The lowly worm, feeding on the carcass of a fallen deer, communes more intimately with Mother Nature’s truths than man ever will. And yet, humanity peers into the green abyss, compelled by a flicker of purpose—or hubris…
A furniture store. A protest. A stolen relic. Madness takes root.
Deep in the Pacific Northwest, a corporate giant and an environmental cult clash over a stolen sapling—an object of eldritch power linked to the Black Goat of the Woods. As the protest escalates outside the IDEA Industries furniture store, something far worse is growing within. Furniture warps, creatures lurk in the shadows, and the very walls pulse with an unnatural hunger.
Investigators are hired as undercover security to manage the chaos, but soon they’ll uncover something far beyond corporate corruption. A former eco-radical turned occult designer, a sacred relic infused with cosmic horror, and a desperate cult seeking revenge. Plunge into a nightmare of ecological horror and consumerist greed gone awry.
Can the investigators untangle the mystery before the store itself becomes a shrine to something ancient and insatiable? Or will they be fertilizer for the hungry roots?
» One-shot scenario for Call of Cthulhu 7E (4-5 hours of playtime).
» An exciting and dangerous “store-crawl” (a point-crawl through the haunted furniture store).
» Set in a 2010s fictional Oregon town, easily adapted elsewhere.
» Pre-generated characters included.
» A blend of corporate horror, eco-terror, and eldritch dread.
