The Ghost Who Brings Me Flowers
Solo RPG by Grim Sour Games
Every month, on a day you least expect, a flower appears. Tucked into your coat pocket, left on your windowsill, pressed between the pages of a book you haven’t opened in years. You’ve caught a glimpse of the spectral figure, and you know they’re trying to tell you something. Over the course of a year, you’ll receive these gifts, contemplate their meanings, and piece together their artful message. As the seasons change, maybe you will too—until, at last, you come face to face with the one who’s been guiding you all along.
This is a one-page solo ttrpg. All you need is a deck of playing cards and a place to write.
✽ tone & themes ✽
This game is romantic, lofi, cozy, playful, melancholy, and bittersweet, with themes of change, growth, and connection. The ghost’s messages are symbolic, like reading tarot. Here’s a playlist we curated for the game that may help with the intended vibes.
The relationship can be romantic, friendly, or familial—maybe a past tenant, a child who looks up to you, or someone you once knew.
✽ content warning ✽
This game deals with death, grief, possibly loneliness, and finding the courage to move forward. If it ever feels like too much, take a break. You can return when you’re ready or leave the story as it is.
✽ who are you ✽
Your character will be piecing together the meaning behind each delivery. Make them feel real. Think about how they interpret the prompts—not just their general meaning. Even the weather or placement of flowers can hold personal significance.
✽ cause & effect ✽
Based on the prompts and season, explain what you were doing and what you’ll do now. How do these flowers shape your actions?
Maybe finding your favorite flower rekindles an old hobby. Maybe you ask the ghost a question, hoping for an answer in the next delivery. What do you do with the flowers—keep them, dry them, toss them?
✽ journal ✽
Here’s an example from my character Jenny’s story, but feel free to journal it however you like:
