A BRP RPG by Siegebreaker Games
If they even notice that we exist, the Gateways care nothing for us or what we want. Let’s hope that continues, or we might awaken the gods that built them….

Experience the Exploration, Intrigue, and Mythos Horror inspired by Sci-Fi adventure movies and the writing of H.P. Lovecraft.
Based on the Chaosium Basic Roleplaying Universal Game Engine, Gateways into Madness is a complete tabletop role-playing game that takes players into a dark, twisted universe where madness and hope for humanity coexist.
At the Antarctic research base Citadel, your characters are part of the humans who have reacted strongly to the Advanced Gene Therapy Process (AGTP) and developed the ability to travel through a pre-human Ancient Gateway deep in the mountains of madness.
Thrown into Ad hoc Gate Survey Teams, completely unprepared, under-equipped, and understrength, the GST teams are sent into the unknown to discover the Mythos-inspired worlds of Gateways into Madness.

Expanding the fantastic worlds of The Basic Roleplaying Universal Engine
Gateways into Madness adds to the Basic Roleplaying Universal Engine:
- Metamorphic Effects – Human to Alien ConversionsFor unknown reasons, over 100,000 years ago, an Ancient civilization tampered with Humanity by manipulating the human genome to insert dormant DNA strands into tribes worldwide. The ATGP treatment has activated some of these DNA sequences, allowing access to ancient technologies such as the gateways.
- Advantages and Disadvantages – Players can gain special abilities to enhance their characters, such as Combat Shooting, Eagle-Eyed, Combat Medicine, Ancient Expert, Linguist, and many more.
- Mental Fatigue Points are the reserve of self-control a character has during a game. You can think of Mental Fatigue as their pool of “coolness” in a game session. When players are exposed to combat, shocks, verbal fights between players, emotional trauma, physical trauma, psychic powers, and just the unknown horrors of the gateways, it can all wear down a player’s psyche. If a player runs out of Mental Fatigue Points, they start taking Sanity loss on failed Mental Toughness Rolls.
- Mental Toughness Roll checks to see if a player can endure the situation and still act in a “normal” fashion. If the test is passed, then the player can act without any restrictions. If the test is failed, based on the amount of the failure the results can be debilitating effects plus the loss of Mental Fatigue Points.
- Episodic Game Play – Gateways into Madness is an Episodic Table Top Role Playing game designed from the ground up to have both gritty modern / horror realism within a series of short adventures.
- Weapons, Drones, Equipment, Creatures, Adventures, and so much more!

GAMMA SECURITY ALERT
Dr Chu has reappeared in the Ancient City. In his right hand, he held a new artifact that appeared to be a yellow crystal, while in his left hand was a newspaper that appeared to be from 1942 Cairo, Egypt. The strangeness of the event is compounded by the newspaper proclaiming that Erwin Rommel had won the Battle of El Armain and Cairo was being evacuated before the Axis troops could enter the city. Carbon dating appears to indicate that the newspaper is from 1942.
Dr Chu is being held at the base hospital and is under locked down.
