Years ago, the Skrulls attempted to conquer Earth by infiltrating it with shape-shifting agents. This event, known as the “Secret Invasion,” led to a conflict between Earth’s heroes and the Skrulls. Reed Richards developed a device to expose Skrull infiltrators, ultimately leading to their defeat. However, Skrulls have since found ways to maintain their disguises.

After the Secret Invasion, while Kl’rt, the Super-Skrull, rose to prominence within the newly formed Kree-Skrull alliance, the Earth hero Hulkling at its heart, a faction of Skrull extremists, known as the Children of Lost Tarnax formed, seeking to oppose the Kree-Skrull Alliance and establish a new Skrull Empire by infiltrating Earth’s superhuman communities and manipulating events to their advantage.
