KMFDM were another of the 80’s Industrial pioneers that I grew up on when I was getting into EBM/Industrial in my teens. I’d never had the chance to see them live before but they were in the UK touring in support of their new “Symbols” album that had been released the previous month.
Vitro, the opening act, were a UK band who had just released their debut album “Distort”. They were alright but didn’t really grab me.
I’d seen PIG a number of times, supporting Nine Inch Nails, Die Krupps and Judda, but the last time I’d caught them was back in 1994. They had always impressed me and tonight was no different. They put on a good show, played a good set, and got the crowd in the mood for the main act. PIG were an odd band for me – I always enjoyed them live but rarely ever listened to them at home, despite having an album or two.
KMFDM were worth the years of waiting. They had a strong stage presence and a great energy to them. The crowd was really receptive and I pretty much wore myself out dancing! I think I saw them again aa few years later, but am certainly glad that I caught them atleast once given how much I listened to them in the late 80’s/early 90’s.
