The last time I’d been to Shepherds Bush Empire was back in April 1996, which was also the last time I’d seen the fantastic New Model Army live. They were still a year off releasing their next studio album but did release a compilation album called ‘Small Town England’ in 1997. I’m not sure they had a support at this gig as they had a massive 27-song setlist!
It was a Friday night so a load of us were out at the gig before heading off to Camden to the Electric Ballroom. Having New Model Army to warm you up for the rest of the night is certainly a sure fire way of getting energized!
They played a fantastic set (I’m not sure I’ve seen a bad NMA concert – and they are one of the bands that I have seen loads over the years).
