GIG 343: The Horatii / Manuskript / Emma Conquest – Borderline – 27th July 1997

It may have been the height of summer but it didn’t stop goths coming out in their droves on a Sunday night to see a great triology of bands. I’d seen both The Horatii and Manuskript a couple of times before, but this was my first time seeing opening act Emma Conquest live.

This was actually a fantastic gig – with all three bands putting on fantastic sets to the extent that I’m really not sure I;d be able to say which of them was my favourite of the night. Each one was brilliant and it was one of the few gigs I’ve been to that I can say was almost flawless.

Emma Conquest impressed me for a band I’d never seen before – and probably hadn’t heard of at the time beyond seeing their name on flyers. Manuskript – whom I’d really enjoyed before – where once again brilliant and The Horatii – whom I had actually not really enjoyed much the previous times I’d seen them – really kicked ass this evening and were also brilliant.
