Welcome to #RPGaDAY2023! Now in its tenth year, #RPGaDAY was originally created by RPG author and games designer David Chapman (Conspiracy X, Doctor Who, etc) as a bit of fun and to get people talking about tabletop roleplaying games. August was chosen, I believe, to coincide with tabletop roleplaying’s gaming mecca that is Gen Con – which usually takes place in the States (Inidanapolis these days) every August.
#RPGaDAY is open to everyone so if you want to join in just check out the prompts below to inspire a blog, vlog, or social media post to celebrate everything great about our hobby with the tag #RPGaDAY2023

Day 10: Favourite Tie-In Fiction
I used to read a fair bit of RPG tie-in fiction. TSR ruled the roost with tie-in fiction exploring and expanding their game settings in the 80’s and 90’s. I loved the original Dragonlance Trilogy and Legends of Huma, as well as a number of the early Forgotten Realms novels.
I read most of the White Wolf World of Darkness fiction – and actually appeared in the Brujah trilogy along with my then girlfriend, Delphine. I was killed off in book 2 (The Overseer) – by Delphine – so am not quite sure what that says about our relationship…
I also read a bunch of other tie-ins – Shadowrun, Dark Conspiracy, Warhammer, and others – including some fiction published by Chaosium for Call of Cthulhu and Pendragon (newly written shorts as well as older reprints if I remember correctly).
My favourite series was probably the Possibility Wars Trilogy by West End Games for their TORG RPG. They produced a few other books – and anthologies – but the original trilogy was my favourite. Written by Greg Gordon and Bill Slavicsek the series chronicles the start of the invasion from different Cosms and the various heroes – both from Earth itself as well as some of the other Cosms – and their fight against the High Lords (or more specifically The Gaunt Man). It’s a series I have read a few times over the years, returning to every so often like I would a good film.
