#RPGaDAY2023 Day 1 – First RPG Played This Year

Welcome to #RPGaDAY2023! Now in its tenth year, #RPGaDAY was originally created by RPG author and games designer David Chapman (Conspiracy X, Doctor Who, etc) as a bit of fun and to get people talking about tabletop roleplaying games. August was chosen, I believe, to coincide with tabletop roleplaying’s gaming mecca that is Gen Con – which usually takes place in the States (Inidanapolis these days) every August.

#RPGaDAY is open to everyone so if you want to join in just check out the prompts below to inspire a blog, vlog, or social media post to celebrate everything great about our hobby with the tag #RPGaDAY2023

Day 1 : First RPG Played This Year

The start of 2023 saw us wrap up the first part of our ‘The Day After Ragnarok‘ campaign for Savage Worlds.

Set in the early years after a catastrophic end to World War 2, which saw Nazi occultists call up the great serpent Jörmungandr to help them win the war – but resulted in poisoning most of the planet when Truman unleashed atomic fire on it, sending it crashing down, encircling the planet and causing mass tsuanmi’s and devastation in its wake. It continues to poison and warp the land and weird tech is being engineered from it’s corpse.

I played a pilot working for the British secret service called Jack Adelaide who, along with a couple of other agents and an ex-soldier, have gone undercover posing as an ophi-tech smuggler up the eastern coast of Africa. It’s been a fun campaign so far and I look forward to starting the second part of it, hopefully later this year.
